Client Service Manager


Client Service Manager will be working within a Retirement and Investment Pension Administration Group, which is responsible for providing defined benefit administrative services to over 300 clients using proprietary software. Day to day management of specific clients, assisting with implementations, managing special projects, delegating work among colleagues within a project, and acting as a mentor and role model are key responsibilities.

Major Responsibilities include:

• Consult with client on special projects such as nonstandard benefit calculations, benefit statements, changes to requirements, special programs or other administrative requests
• Handle benefit plan administration and management of special projects associated with defined benefit plans for various clients
• Understand client contract components with the ability to recognize out-of-scope work
• Ensure that measures established are met for items such as:
o Calculation turnaround
o Phone call returns
o Benefit payment entry
o Assist in collection of data for client billings
• Responsible for quality control of the client's pension calculation system
• Maintain current knowledge of client specific plan provisions
• Broaden knowledge of defined benefit administration rules
• Maintain client databases and benefit calculation log
• Assist in creating project timelines and ensure that deadlines are met
• Assist in the collection of data
• Analyze plan provisions
• Review and perform benefit calculations
• Respond to member/participant calls and facilitate requests
• Coordinate monthly pension payments with trustee
• Consult with employee on pension plan provisions and payment elections

Colleague Coaching

• Serve as a role model for other colleagues by exhibiting the values of the firm, displaying benefit of the doubt, integrity, and initiative
• Coach colleagues regarding plan specific issues and technical competencies; this includes all colleagues working on clients, mentoring new colleagues, and more formal team training
• Act as a role model for soliciting and providing positive and constructive feedback
• Assist in ensuring that work is evenly distributed among the team

Pension Implementation

• Coordinate the set-up and testing of the of proprietary software for new clients according to the plan provisions and administrative requirements
• Assist with the development of plan administrator documents
• Customize employee communication material


• Bachelor's degree
• 8+ years of experience working with pension, defined benefit plans/administration
• Demonstrated project management, client consulting, and team management skills
• Knowledge of legal documentation and communicate effectively any new rules/regulations to clients
• Consulting background highly preferred
• Pension formula knowledge required

Salary: 85K to 110K + bonus eligible

Pension Analyst


Pension Analyst will perform recurring plan administration services for clients defined benefit plans under the supervision of senior analysts and will assist with project work and other ad hoc client support services as requested.

Responsibilities include:

> Benefit calculations
> Annual data updates
> Assist with preparation of benefit statements
> Work cooperatively with other team members (administrators & actuaries) to complete tasks and to ensure unified delivery of services
> Gain a thorough understanding of the plan design and administrative procedures (e.g. eligibilities, benefit formulas, etc.)
> Follow and update documentation materials as directed
> Maintain complete and accurate work papers and audit trails
> Learn and use tools and concepts to ensure efficient and quality output/service delivery, e.g. do, check, review
> Serve as a contact with clients human resources personnel
> Adhere to plan documents and government regulations in administering plans
> Actively participate in team meetings and training activities
> Be accountable to team members for agreements and promises

Experience Needed:

> 1 year experience working in an environment using solid mathematical or analytical skills
> Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
> Attention to detail
> Professional, client-focused approach to colleagues and assignments
> Seeks out experiences that may change perspective or provide an opportunity to learn new things
> Strong oral and written communication skills
> Ability to organize, set priorities, and complete multiple projects within established deadlines
> Willing to work overtime as requested
> Bachelor degree in Mathematics, Statistics or related field and a strong academic record

Salary: 40K to 50K
