Client Relations Manager


Client Relations Manager provides outstanding customer relationship management and consulting services to large clients ($50M+) by responding to or directing client/broker inquiries, including applicable research; demonstrate proactive consultative resolutions to client business and retirement program issues; communicate and consult on implications of new technical developments in the benefits field; and identify client/broker goals and communicate services solutions. Demonstrate advanced level of retirement program subject matter expertise in all areas of plan management, including, but not limited to technical, compliance, administration, investment, and participant solutions. Represent new sales, re-selling, and retention situations including formal presentations for the purpose of maintaining, retaining, and gathering retirement program assets to drive profitability.

Duties and Responsibilities of Client Relations Manager:

  • • Oversight of all aspects of the client relationship including the responsibility of retaining the client by developing multiple key contact relationships between the client and internal team members.
    • Maintain cross-functional relationships between Client and Broker when applicable, including but not limited to client visits and strategic partnerships with senior decision makers.
    • Proactively consult with clients regarding various products and services, in addition to legislative changes.
    • Oversee administration and servicing of defined contribution, defined benefit and non-qualified retirement plans, including problem resolution and directing efforts between internal departments.
    • Manage and communicate solutions to complex issues regarding all facets of the client’s retirement plans.
    • Provide training, guidance and direction to clients for administrative reports, quarterly statements, annual 5500 reporting, Plan Sponsor Online, and online.
    • Deliver standard client reports, including but not limited to: Plan Reviews, Investment Reviews, Strategic Action Plans, Communication Plans and other tools and services as applicable to meet client needs and expectations.
    • Partner with clients and brokers to develop participant solutions, including communication campaigns, education approaches and asset gathering strategies.
    • Interface with plan administrators and brokers to direct daily plan functions or processes while maintaining company objectives and profitability.
    • Accountable for providing a high level of responsiveness, positive and proactive relationships with both internal and external customers to include handling escalated and complex situations.
    • Proactively analyze the structure and operation of client plans and make recommendations for improvements.
    • Demonstrate extensive knowledge in plan design, resources and capabilities through the ability to recommend value-creating services to clients and brokers.
    • Proactively identify customer needs, special projects, formulating marketing efforts to clients and client visits.
    • Represent company and present at formal new sales, re-selling and retention opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:

    - 5+ years Client Relations experience, including large Client experience
    - College degree required; MBA preferred
    - Proficiency with Microsoft Office
    - Must obtain FINRA Series 6 and 63 registration; also Group Life Insurance License within one year of hire
    - CEBS RPA designation required within four years of hire
    - Must be able to travel up to 25% to 70% depending on Client assignments
    - Advance knowledge of pension products and services
    - Strong presentation skills

    Salary: 90K to 120K + 18% target bonus (based upon experience & knowledge)

    Client Service Manager

    Philadelphia, PA POSITION FILLED

    Client Service Manager is responsible for managing a staff of eight, comprised of Account Officers and Account Executives, delivering excellent client service to plan sponsors, brokers/agents and financial partners in all aspects of Defined Contribution retirement plan services. The Manager will lead the staff in maintaining service standards in an environment that promotes achievement and professional growth.

    Duties and Responsibilities of Client Service Manager:

    • Motivate, lead and support team members to provide excellent customer service by ensuring staff is properly trained to respond to inquiries in a professional manner.
    • Participate in the hiring process by conducting interviews and evaluating candidates.
    • Responsible for providing team members with substantive, periodic feedback on performance, including the completion of performance planning, performance updates and the annual performance appraisal.
    • Monitor service levels and telephone call productivity.
    • Review and act upon daily production reports.
    • Plan and organize workflow in order to meet service commitments.
    • Produce weekly/monthly production reports outlining completed and pending cases.
    • Develop staffing strategies for appropriate allocation of resources to meet business needs and client service commitments/objectives.
    • Coordinate the successful training and instruction of new associates.
    • Develop staff on industry knowledge, general business skills set, and professional development.
    • Develop workflow alternatives to streamline the production process, including identification of opportunities for improvement, recommendations for changes and implement those changes.
    • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelors Degree required Advanced degree or industry specific certification (ASPPA, CEBS, etc.) strongly preferred • 8+ years Defined Contribution experience, including 5+ years supervisory/managerial • Proficiency with Microsoft Office • Comprehensive knowledge of DC record keeping system and retirement plans; or experience in recordkeeping systems at other recordkeeping providers • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills • Ability to work well under pressure with multiple priorities and deadlines • Superior skills in Interpersonal, Presentation, Written and Oral Communication, Conflict Resolution, Project Management, Coaching and Mentoring and Time Management • Must be able to travel up to 25%
